L's Fuzzy Cat-Hat

First, I debated whether this was more plushie or costume (Go figure. It's a costume for a plushie), and decided it was more on the plushie side.

Take this which ever way you will - just the cuteness factor, the idea that L is cosplaying a cat (I partially had Jiji from "Kiki's Delivery Service" in mind when making this), or whatever. Although, to be honest, I was mostly drawing my inspiration from the five-second shot we got in 25 (or was 24?) of Death Note anime, where L arrived at the Wammy House in the middle of winter.

Yessss, I made L a hat. Why? Because I've been meaning to make one of my plushies a hat for a long time. Also because I was bored, and was in the mood to get more friendly with our sewing machine, that up to this point hated me with a passion. Yesss, all done on the sewing machine.

And this is a very valuable plushie right now, my friends. He sold out in under 24 hours in one of the biggest anime and manga merch stores in Japan - and was all gone, sold out, discontinued even from the factory website in ten days after the initial release.

I believe the one that's up on eBay is running for something like 70-80 dollars. Or something ridiculous like that. = D

So, the hat is also there to preserve his hair. The scarf's only purpose is to hold up L's head, because the hat makes it wobbly.

As a bonus, the hat is also the perfect shape and size to fit my lovely Light, so they can share.

I was going to add a ribbon to tie it, but my lovely raspberry ribbon went missing, so... I'll add it once I'll find it.

My family's reactions were rather entertaining... my mother said it was very cute, my step-dad [as usual] asked if that was a pig-hat and my sister decided to make L her new favourite and busied herself with putting him to bed.

Plush is not made by me, but instead by the Movic company (which makes amazing merch, by the way)
